Appellate Practice
The firm handles a full range of appellate matters arising from cases we have handled in the trial court. We also have been brought in as special appellate counsel to overturn or obtain affirmance of a lawsuit that was handled by another firm in the trial court. These include:
- Reversal of $45 Million Judgment
Representing sports agency Athletes First in a 9th Circuit appeal that overturned one of the largest jury verdicts in California in 2002, in a lawsuit involving brought by Steinberg’s firm, Steinberg, Moorad & Dunn for unfair competition and breach of contract.
- Writ Issued Disqualifying Opposing Counsel
Obtaining an alternative writ from the California Court of Appeal directing the trial court to grant a motion to disqualify opposing counsel based on a conflict of interest in franchise litigation.
- Affirming Dismissal and Awarding Fees for Frivolous Appeal
Following our successful defense of an attempt to invalidate a California judgment in Idaho, obtaining an award of attorneys fees for a frivolous appeal from the Idaho Supreme Court.
